Mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, and wives—today is a day to celebrate you. In honour of this important date, I encourage you to look within and recognise your inner strength. Your resilience. Your compassion. This is your day, women of the world.

International Women’s Day acknowledges the struggles, sacrifices, and victories on the long road to equality. Women have come so far, yet still have further to go. There are still mountains to climb and horizons to chase.

A significant number of women continue to face discrimination, violence, and marginalisation. The call goes out for each one of us to stand up for fairness wherever we see inequality. To spread a message of love that drowns out the voices of hate.

The great feminist Gloria Steinem once said, “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”

Her words remind me that this is a shared journey we are on, women and men together. The mere fact that we mark this day is proof that progress continues.

To all the women fighting for human rights and female empowerment, I say: your resolve makes the world better for all.

To women lifting each other up, mentoring the next generation, and speaking out against prejudice—your courage is inspiring.

To women thriving in male-dominated fields—you make space for those who come behind you.

To women balancing careers, motherhood, relationships, and more—you are superheroes.

To all who gather on this day around the globe – to honour, to remember, to hope – I wish you joy. I wish you justice. But most of all, I wish you wings. Soar high. The sky belongs to you.

Happy International Women’s Day. With admiration and solidarity,

Mr. Harbinder Singh Sethi
