I am overjoyed today as I reflect on the tremendous turnout during the Prakash Gurupurab celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh Ji at the Gurudwara Sahib of Johannesburg from Friday, 26th January to Sunday, 28th January.
It was heartwarming to see the Sadh Sangat from Johannesburg, Durban, Marlboro Temple, and Botswana who joined us for the celebrations. My family and I truly appreciate your support and participation.
Special thanks are also due to the dedicated sewadars and Granthi Singh Ji’s, who have worked tirelessly, around the clock, to ensure the celebrations unfolded seamlessly.
We were blessed to have devotees from diverse backgrounds join us over the weekend. I was particularly moved by the young children from Khalsa Cubs reciting Shabad Kirtan with such confidence and devotion.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, was a spiritual master, warrior poet, and champion of the oppressed. He transformed the Sikh community into an order of saint-soldiers, ready to stand for righteousness and justice. From the days of Anandpur Sahib to Chamkaur, he led with wisdom, strength, and sacrifice. Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s light continues to inspire people of all faiths to this day.
As the first gurudwara established in South Africa under the leadership of my father Late. Sardar Mota Singh Ji, the Gurudwara Sahib of Johannesburg provides spiritual nourishment and guidance to anyone who enters. Here, in this hallowed space, followers are served our Guru’s message of oneness and courage.
Looking forward, our anticipation centres around the upcoming celebration of Vaisakhi from 19th to 21st April 2024. We hope to see everyone back again as we mark another significant day on the Sikh calendar. More details will be shared soon.
